Many people are unaware how engineering plays a part in their everyday lives. They may notice these things only when they go wrong! 
Engineers work for the community without the community really being aware of it. 
Why is awareness important? Because we don’t miss what we have until we don’t have it. If we were aware of what engineers design, construct or manufacture and install for us, we may realise how fundamental and interesting those processes are and perhaps choose to be part of the world of engineering in an active way and continue to support your community. 
So much opportunity!
